Through our College Bound Program, we provide students with resources and knowledge regarding pursuing post-secondary education. College Bound provides students with weekly workshops that teach them about the requirements for college, how to apply for financial aid and scholarships and about the possible fields they may be interested in pursuing as a college major.

This program also assists many first-generation students who may not have considered college as a path for them by encouraging them to pursue a college education and assisting them with the process throughout their high school career. Our program also offers a wide variety of resources such as SAT Prep, one-on-one case mentorship, parent meetings, and Financial Aid and Scholarship workshops.

CAREER LAUNCH

Career Launch prepares teens for the world of careers and work. Through Career Launch students embark on a journey to explore possible vocations, make sound educational decisions and find success in the world of work.

This program gives students the chance to explore various careers based on their interests and talents, helps them determine the corresponding educational path they need to pursue, and guides them in mapping out a plan for their future.

GET HIRED!

Get Hired teaches students skills that will enable them to obtain a job by teaching them interview skills, what employers look for in employees, how to build a resume and many more valuable skills.

This program encourages students to start thinking about different career options and is a great resource for students who may not be interested in pursuing a college education and would like to go into the workforce. Some resources we offer through this program are, mock interviews, resume building workshops, and career panels among other things.

TUTORING

The Future Ready Program offers a free tutoring service to all high school students in all subject areas.

Bridge to the Future Scholars Program

The Bridge to the Future (B2F) Scholars Program has partnered up with Canoga Park High School to provide support to 25 graduating seniors with a 4-year, tuition-free education to California State University, Northridge. In order for a student to be considered for the program, the student needs to complete the following three parts:

  • Bridge to the Future Application
  • Community Service
  • Interview

In order for the students to complete all three, College Bound works together with B2F to provide one-to-one assistance to these students through the whole applying process. We provide application assistance, volunteering opportunities with the club, and mock interviews.

YOUTH OF THE YEAR PROGRAM

BGCWV - Youth of the Year

WHAT IS YOUTH OF THE YEAR?

For more than 70 years, the Youth of the Year program has honored and celebrated the nation’s most inspiring teens and their incredible journeys. Stories of outstanding leadership, service, academic excellence and dedication to living a healthy lifestyle have made Youth of the Year America’s premier leadership and recognition program for teens. These amazing young people represent the voice and spirit of hope for America. Inspiring all kids to lead. To succeed. To inspire.

Each year, one exceptional Club member is selected to be the National Youth of the Year, serving as an ambassador for Boys & Girls Club youth as well as a voice for all of our nation’s young people. Over the decades, these individuals have exemplified the Boys & Girls Club mission and are proof to the impact Clubs make in transforming and saving kids’ lives. National Youth of the Year winners have achieved success in a variety of industries, including entertainment, politics, business and sports.

PROCESS:

Becoming National Youth of the Year is an exciting and inspiring journey. Each year, thousands of Club teens participate in local, state and regional Youth of the Year events.

Six teens, including five regional winners and a national military youth winner, advance to Washington, D.C., for the National Youth of the Year Gala & Celebration Dinner, where one outstanding young person is named Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s national teen spokesperson.

The National Youth of the Year is a role model, leader and advocate for the nearly 4 million youth served by Boys & Girls Clubs each year, and all of America’s young people.
