Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley is committed to the highest standards of ethical behavior and integrity and does not tolerate inappropriate or illegal activity on the part of any Club Staff, volunteer or youth member.

Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley has comprehensive safety policies in place that protect youth – including but not limited to, supervision, transportation, communication, and prohibiting one-on-one contact.
Background Checks
Mandatory criminal background checks are required for every staff and board member of the Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley, and any volunteer who has direct contact with children. These are conducted in advance, as well as each year.

Each Club location completes an Internal review in a specific online tool, as well as a safeety audit by membes of the Program & Safety Committee.
required reporting
Any critical incident must be reported to Boys & Girls Club of America within 24 hours.
Employee References
Any employee interested in obtaining employment at another Boys & Girls Club, anywhere, is required to have a referrence check completed from the previous Club, even if Clubs are from the same community.
Training
Boys & Girls Club of America’s Club Safety is designated to monitor each training by volunteers and staff:
- First Aid / CPR
- Supervision of Children
- Mandated Reporting
- Emergency Situations
Equipment
Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley focuses on safety when making resource allocations and decisions regarding capital expenditures, transportation vehicles, and sports equipment.

We encourage all staff, members, and families to report any incident or situation they feel is unsafe. Through our collaboration with DCFS – Everyone has access to this resource.
Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley Staff and Volunteers are mandated reporters, required to notify local authorities immediately with any critical incident or safety concern. Additionally, the organization complies with all Federal , state, and local safety laws, including those impacting facilities and vehicles.
