ABOUT US
Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley was founded in 1992 by a group of community leaders in response to the need for safe, affordable, educational and productive activities for at-risk youth during non-school hours. For the first 10 years, Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley did not have a home of its own and relied on space at local schools. In 2004, after years of fundraising, the Club purchased a two-story, 10,000-square-foot facility with the help of a grant from the state and assistance from a local business leader, Rickey Gelb. In 2013, the Club opened the Teen Center directly across the street from the Gary M. Thomas Clubhouse.
OUR
HISTORY.

Today, more than 800 San Fernando Valley youth stream through our doors at the Gary M. Thomas Clubhouse & Teen Center and our 7 area school sites. We provide fun, safe and welcoming spaces during critical hours of the day. Youth have opportunities to engage in positive social activities with peers, achieve academic success through tutoring and enrichment programs, and learn the benefits of healthy eating and lifestyles through sports, fitness, and wellness programs.
Our vision is to build the community’s social and economic fabric by ensuring the academic and career success of every member who walks through our doors.
Guided by inspirational leadership and a dedicated board of directors, our full-time and part-time staff, along with our volunteers, work together to serve our mission:
To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential, as productive, caring, responsible adults.
